The text used by Meiland often differs from the standard text shown on the text page for the Pater noster, mainly because it uses ancient word forms whichcontain elisions of characters, resulting in different syllable counts, hence the standard text wouldn’t fit the music. Vater unser, der du bist im Himmel,
geheilget werd dein Nam,
zukomme dein Reich, dein Will gescheh,
wie im Himmel, also auch auf Erden;
unser täglich Brot gib uns heut,
und vergib uns unser Schuld,
wie wir vergeben unsern Schuldigern;
und führ uns nicht in Versuchung,
sondern erlös uns vom Übel.
