Description: First published as "Tunbridge" without attribution in 1778 for three voices (TrTB) and with words by Charles Wesley, "All ye that pass by", meter 55.11.55.11. – the Treble is confused, not always harmonic. Aaron Williams in 1783 used the same Tenor and Bass, meter and words, but removed the Treble. Edward Miller in 1790 revised Williams' Tunbridge to fit meter 88.88., for two parts and titled "Rockingham", with words from the New Version paraphrase of Psalm 139, "Thou, Lord, by strictest search has known". Peter Hellendaal in 1794 added Treble and Alto to make four parts, and substituted words from the New Version paraphrase of Psalm 42:5-6, "O thou, my soul, on God rely."
