Life

Born: 1550 in Schwerin, Duchy of Mecklenburg

Died: 1612

Biography

Mancinus was cantor and court musician between 1572 and 1579 at the Court of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. In the years of 1579-81 he was Tenor at the Hofkapelle Berlin. He founded the Wolfenbüttel Hofkantorei in 1583 and led it until his retirement in 1604, whereupon he was succeeded by Michael Praetorius. After his retirement he led the Library of Wolfenbüttel, today's Herzog-August-Bibliothek.
