- Editor: Geoff Allan (submitted 2020-05-27). Score information: A4, 4 pages, 105 kB Copyright: Personal
- Edition notes: A part-song or madrigal - same voicing as Gibbons The Silver Swan. In contrast this is about a Black Swan. The piano part is for rehearsal only. If you like it and perform it - do send me a recording. The mp3 file is sung by a sampled choir "Voices of Prague". It will be replaced by a real choir after a performance. It should give you an idea of the sound. The composer suggests listening to the audio while reading the score.

English text
The swan in tranquil sail and soft,
On waters calm is making way,
Her head is blithely held aloft,
Her neck, an arch, reflecting in the bay.
No dread adversities forseen,
But since the world is set alight,
This swan is sable hued, serene,
And all must know, not ev'ry swan is white.
