Making a new page loses the page history as well as the discussion Talk:Rejoice in the Lord alway. Once there's a consensus, a page move is better. Richard Mix (talk) 22:03, 29 July 2022 (UTC)

How does one instigate a page move as opposed to creating a new page? Droopop (talk) 22:18, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
Since there are three four-verse English versions of this text, and one one-line Latin version it seems to me wilfully obscurantist to suppress the page "Rejoice in the Lord alway" in favour of this. A case of the tail wagging the dog, which is hard coherently to justifyCjshawcj (talk) 22:46, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
Moving might require administrator privileges and is easy enough, or you can tag the page with Template:Rename. Christopher, may I copy your comment to the old discussion page? Richard Mix (talk) 00:18, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
I don't consider my pearls of wisdom to be worthy of protective copyright, so do with them what you will. To add a little more reasoning: There are many pages on which Latin and English co-exist in equal measures (e.g. Sic Deus dilexit mundum, with German in the mix), reflecting respective popularity in the Catholic and Protestant gtraditions. But in principle is appropriate that the bigger battalions choose the language of the article; especially when there is a popular item (here, the Purcell) as a major item.Cjshawcj (talk) 00:42, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
