Signor, pietà ti spinse
vestir umana spoglia,
per atterar ch'il nostro ben estinse
alla celeste soglia,
e trarne fuor di doglia.
Deh, mira come langue
l'alma per cui versasti poscia il sangue.

Vergine e madre alle cui luci eterne
cinto di spine il Re del ciel s'offerse.
Deh, per quelle aspre interne
piaghe ond'il suo languir, l'alma t'aperse:
mie voglie infiamma in freddo ghiaccio immerse.
