і свою наготу ридая плакаше:

Мене ради, мене ради соз дан бих,
Єви ра ди затворен бих
уви мні, уви мні, уви мні.
раю мой, раю мой, раю мой.
Прелестію лукаваго увіщанну бившу,
і окраденну, і слави удален ну,
уви мні, уви мні, уви мні.
к тому твоєя сладості не насищуся,
но о раю, к тому не узрю господа
і бога моєго і создателя,
в землю бо пойду, от нея же взат бих.
милостіве щедре вопіюти,
помилуй мя падшаго.
English text
Adam sat at the gate of Paradise,
bewailing his nakedness in tears and cying:
Woe to me!
It is for my sake thou hast made me,
it is for Eve's sake that I have been locked out -
Woe to me, o my Paradise!
I that was tempted by the Evil One,
was robbed, and am withdrawn from the glory -
Woe to me!
Neither shall I partake enough of thy sweetness,
nor shall I, o Paradise, behold my Lord,
and God, and Maker,
for I am to turn to the dust that I was made from.
O Gracious One, I cry unto Thee, be Thou generous,
have mercy on me, the one who has fallen.
