a ma douleur et soubdain'infortune.

Las par souffrir ne puis vaincre fortune,
contrainct ie suis en fin de souspirer,
Car vivre sans espoir m’est trop amer,
plain de doleur, de peine importune.

The prize, for sure, is mine,
For night and day I feel the weight
Of my pain, my lot malign.

I suffer, but to no avail,
The die, for me, is cast:
Devoid of hope, my spirits fail
And I must breathe my last.

Wenn man durch Leid Schicksal besiegen kann,
dann glaube ich, dass mir der Preis gebührt,
denn Tag und Nacht vor Augen wird geführt
mein Leid mir und mein jähes Unglück dann.

Vom Leiden schwach ich nicht obsiegen kann,
was schließlich wohl zu meinem Ende führt,
ohn’ Hoffnung leben bitter mich berührt,
voll tiefem Schmerz, und in des Leidens Bann.
