And the people took branches of palm-trees,

Blessed is he that cometh,
that cometh in the name of the Lord!

Ride on! ride on in majesty!
In lowly pomp ride on to die
O Savior meek, pursue Thy road
With palms and scatter'd garments strowed

O'er captive death and conquer'd sin.

The angel armies of the sky
Look down with sad and wond'ring eyes
To see the approaching sacrifice.
