Request planned to be fulfilled

I'm quite familiar with the tune. I can do up some sheet music for it—but not right now. Remind me if you don't see it up within a few weeks. The tune was probably first known as Charity (if not, then it's merely also known as Charity). The writer of the lyrics, however, is arguably not Ingalls (although I have yet to see definitive proof as to either), but potentially John Adam Granade (1763–1807); I've seen both cited as the lyricist, but my personal belief due to the contexts and publications I've seen is that Granade wrote it, and Ingalls just did the tune. Awake Ye That Slumber is also a great, if sometimes somewhat dark, set of lyrics for this tune—if you grow impatient, you can see a version of the tune set to these lyrics that I put up on HymnWiki.org, but I do plan to do it up how it has been published with the lyrics you implied, here (they are slightly different).

Jeremiah Ingalls composed some awesome songs, by the way. Charity and Garden Hymn are among my favorites, and I liked them both before I knew he composed them. Belmont (Visitation) is another cool one. I really should familiarize myself with the rest of his compositions, seeing as he is my favorite hymn composer (melody-wise). —Shoreu 05:50, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

All right, I saw that I hadn't done this, and so I did it. I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to deal with this request, though. Do I do anything with it? All right, time to add the score. Shoreu 12:49, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
