Edition notes: The earliest complete source (A) has several obvious errors and one too many incongruities to be considered the first choice for a transcription. Tallis’s habit of revision means that subsequent sources are equally unhelpful and in conflict with one another, probably owing to scribal error and or invention. This edition is a personal view of what sounds plausible for mature, revised Tallis.
