General Information
Title: Misericordias Domini, KV 222
Composer: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Source of text: Psalm 88:2a (Vulgate)
Number of voices: 4vv Voicing: SATB
Genre: Sacred, Anthem, Cantata
Language: Latin
Instruments: 2 oboes, 2 horns, strings and organ
First published: written 1775
Description: In the current Catholic Ordo Psalm 89 (88) is assigned as the Responsorial Psalm for Advent IVB and OT13A. The instrumentation found in the B&H Werke is suspect; wind parts are probably spurious and the authenticity of the viola part is debated: see Schröder's article.
