Biography

James William Windsor was born in London, but established himself as a musician in Bath, where he was organist of St. Margaret's Chapel. He subscribed to A. F. C. Kollmann's Essay on Practical Musical Composition (1799), and as well as being a prominent pianist in Bath, was an early proponent in England of the music of Bach. He contributed several metrical psalm tunes to A Collection of Sacred Music (1830), a book compiled by J. M. Coombs Jr. of Chippenham.
