German text Ist nicht Ephraim mein teurer Sohn und mein trautes Kind? Denn ich gedenk noch wohl daran, was ich ihm geredet habe. Darum bricht mir mein Herz gegen ihn, daß ich mich sein erbarmen muß, spricht der Herr.

English translation Is [not] Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the Lord. (KJV)
