Io non son però morto,
Donna, come pensate,
perchè più non m'amate;
anzi ritorn'in vita,
che l'alm'in voi sepolta,
da voi sendosi sciolta,
si trova esser uscita
d'una prigion mortale,
e cangia in vit'e in ben
la mort' e'l male.

German translation

Ich bin jedoch nicht tot,
Herrin, wie Ihr glaubt,
weil Ihr mich nicht mehr liebt,
vielmehr kehre ich ins Leben zurück;
denn die in Euch begrabene Seele,
die sich von Euch losgelöst fühlt,
empfindet sich als entronnen
einem tödlichen Kerker
und wendet zum Leben und zum Guten Tod und Übel.

I am not dead however
my lady, as you believe,
because you do not love me any more,
rather I am returning to life,
a the soul, that was buried in you,
perceiving herself dissevered from you,

of a mortal prison,
