English.png English translation

I heard a maiden complain,
in truth the picture of a female,
her heart would fail her
about a gentle boy.
The woma said modestly:
he is lying at my breast,
who is my dearest.

They had lain side by side
less than half an hour,
that the watcher on the pinnacle
announced the bright day,
sounding his horn:
woman, waken your consort,
for it is time.

I will not waken him,
my most beloved paramour,
I fear that I might frighten
his young heart.
O God, it makes me suffer,
we both must part,
woe happens to my heart.

O parting, alway parting,
who has invented you?
You have brought my young heart
from joy to mourning,
also you have brought my young heart
from joy to sorrow,
Farewell, I will pass away.
