German text Herr, schicke, was du wilt, Ein Liebes oder ein Leides! Ich bin vergnügt, daß beides Aus deinen Händen quillt. Wollest mit Freuden Und wollest mit Leiden Uns nicht überschütten! Doch in der Mitten Liegt holdes Bescheiden.

English translation Lord, grant us what You will of happiness or sorrow! I am content that both flow according to Your will. Not with elation nor yet desolation pray You overwhelm us. But between them is a lovely location.
