1  Go speed thy flight, sweet evening breeze,
Far off to her beyond the seas,
For me to woo her try thou:
Go move her locks of sunny hair,
And let her drink the balmy air,
As sent by springtime fly thou.

2  And I will take my lute in hand,
O bear its voice to yonder strand,
And shouldst thou straying meet her,
Then go with her the way along,
Declare whence thou hast brought the song,
And say 'tis sent to greet her.

3  Then gently take of her thy leave,
Fly back to me, sweet breeze of eve;
Thy tidings I shall presage;
O tell me, does she think of me,
And tell me all she said to thee,
Deliver quick thy message.
