Life

Biography

Virtually nothing is known of the life of Giovanni Giacomo Lucario, except for what is found in his one publication, Concentuum qui vulgo motetta nuncupantur liber primus (Venice: Gardane, 1547).This volume is dedicated to the Neapolitan nobleman Giovanni Bernardino Carbone, and also contains the work of the Neapolitan composers Giovanni Thomaso Cimello and Giovanni Andrea Alcala. It seems to have been a "vanity press" publication, paid for by the composer or his patron. Unusually, it consists primarily of settings of the Mass Proper.
