Ecco la vaga aurora
E 'l sol, ch'à noi vien riportand'il giorno:
Ond’io lieto ritorno
A riveder colei che m’innamora.
De la sua dolce vista
Pascomi sì, ch’altrove non ho pace:
E però qui mi piace
Fermarmi, ove’l mio cor diletto acquista.
E ben che mi distempre,
E’l vivo raggio m’arda e mi consumi,
An ihrem süßen Gesicht
weide ich mich so, dass ich anderswo keinen Frieden finde;
Behold the beautiful dawn,
and the sun, that comes to bring us back the day:
whence I return joyfully
to see her again who enchants me.
In her sweet face
I revel in such an extent, that nowhere else I can have peace:
And therefore I am pleased to abide here,
where my heart obtains delight.
And even though I should pass off,
and the vivid ray burn and consume me,
I would like to see these bright eyes
(so sweet is my languishing) forever.
