Scacciam l'antico sonno
e con soavi accenti,
facciam l'aria gioir i venti
Ridan novell'al canto nostr'i fiori
e torni Primavera
de piaceri d'amor gran messaggera,
felici noi Pastori,
che rinoviamo per voler di Giove
del secol d'oro fortunate prove.

German translation

Verscheuchen wir den alten Schlaf,
und lassen wir mit süßen Tönen
die Luft die Winde erfreuen.
Es lachen erneut die Blumen bei unserem Gesang,
und möge der Frühling wiederkehren,
die große Botin der Liebesfreuden.
Glücklich wir Hirten,
die wir durch den Willen Jupiters
glückliche Zeugnisse des Goldenen Zeitalters erneuern.

English translation

Let's chase away the old sleep,
and let us make the air delight the winds
with sweet sounds.
The flowers laugh anew by our songs,
and may the spring come again,
that great messenger af love's pleasures.
Happy we shepherds,
that by the will of Jupiter
renew fortunate proofs of the Golden Age.
