Par che si legg'ogn'hora
Ma tu voi pur ch'io mora.
Se'l ver porti in te scritto,
Acqueta co'i begli occhi il cor afflitto,
Acciò letto non sia
Ch'ami la morte e non la vita mia.

every day
in your lovely name,
and yet you want me to die.

If you have the truth written in you,
soothe my wounded heart
with your beautiful eyes,
so no one will read
“I love death” instead of “life.”

NOTE: “Ch'ami la” hides the name “Camilla”
