Laude
From ChoralWiki
Laude, laudi or lodi (Singular lauda, 'praise') were non-liturgical religious songs in Italian. In the middle ages they were performed by dedicated confraternities as monophonic songs; by the time of the counterreformation polyphonic laude bordered other vernacular genres like the frottola and oratorio.
