Italian text
Amore l'altro giorno se n'andava
solo soletto senza stral'e l'arco,
tutto lascivo, di pensieri scarco.
Per una valle di bei fior dipinta
chinossi in terra per corre una rosa:
un'ape il ponse ch'era dentro ascosa.
Subitamente corse via piangendo
la madre che lo vide addolorato,
disse: Cupido che hai, che t'è incontrato?
Rispose: Mamma mia per corre un fiore
un Ape m'ha la man punta sì forte
che mi par esser già vicino a morte.
Venere allor rispose sorridendo:
se così picciol cosa ti fa male
che dei tu far ad altri col tuo strale?

English translation
The other day Love was wandering alone
without his arrows or bow,
all lascivious, with nary a thought in his head.
In a valley of painted with lovely flowers
he bent down to pick a rose,
a bee stung him, which was hidden within.
Suddenly he ran away, crying.
His mother, seeing him sorrowful,
asked: Cupid, what happened, what did you meet?
He replied: Oh Mother, while picking a flower
a Bee stung my hand so fiercely
that that I think I'm already close to death.
Then Venus replied, smiling:
if such a small thing hurts you so much
what will you do to others with your shaft?
