Italian.png Italian text

Ahi dispietato Amor, come consenti
ch'io meni vita sì penosa e ria,

English.png English translation

Ah, pitiless Love, how can you permit
me to lead a life so pathetic and cruel,
sailing upon a vast sea of bitter torments
for such a long and perilous way?
Alas, why doesn't a breath of benign winds
not push my weary ship
so, that after a voyage so long and crooked
I might drop my sails in this harbor?
