English text
1. A family sleeps a deep, contented sleep,
exhausted by a most amazing night.
Rich gifts lie gathered twinkling in a heap,
reflecting one star's fading silver light.
2. The woman leans against her husband's arm,
her baby cradles as a mother deems;
The three together: settled, peaceful, warm,
until an angel stirs the father's dreams.
3.Get up! he says, Your king comes as a threat.
Escape to Egypt while there's time enough.
Your child is marked for struggle, but not yet --
tonight let him know nothing else but love.
4. The parents wake, and guided by God's hand
go into exile as their parents did,
remembering God's promise for their land,
relieved for now to keep the Promise hid.
