Biography
Violinist, organist and composer, son of the North-German composer and organist Delphin Strungk (1601-1694). He was born in Celle in 1640 and at the age of twelve he already was church organist in Brunswick.
He held various important positions as a Musical Director, among others at the court of Hannover, and at Hamburg and Dresden, where he composed many operas. In 1692 he founded an operahouse in Leipzig, which brought him endless financial problems. He died in Dresden in 1700.
