Born: 12 August 1696

Biography:

Greene held the post of Composer to the Chapel Royal. Burney's near-contemporary assessment of him was that he was "usually very correct in his harmony, but as to invention and design, he seldom soars above mediocrity". He composed 14 full, 44 verse, 21 solo, and 24 orchestral anthems; a complete service and 6 Te Deums; songs, ballads, oratorios & cantatas in addition to keyboard works.
