Free Webinar Feb27 hosted by CPDL: Introduction to Making Music Remotely Using Jamulus
The Choral Public Domain Library (CPDL) presents an introduction to using the Jamulus software for near real-time singing. Jamulus is a software package that allows musicians in different locations to make music simultaneously as an ensemble.
We will cover an introduction to Jamulus, a comparison with other leading solutions (JackTrip Virtual Studio, Soundjack), lessons from rehearsing a choir and hosting a sing-along via Jamulus, and have an opportunity for Q+A with our panel of speakers. We will also have a Jamulus server configured to allow a limited number of spots for people to try it out in a small group to see how the latency feels for making music together. The webinar will be held via Zoom; advance RSVP required via the link below.
February 27, 2021:
1pm EST (New York, USA) 10am PST (San Francisco, USA) 7p CET (Paris, France)
RSVP required via: This Link
Speakers:
• Nick Weininger (singer, International Orange Chorale of San Francisco; composer; software engineering consultant). • Jace Wittig (Assoc. Artistic Director at Cantabile Youth Singers of Silicon Valley; Founder/Music Director for Gaude, Inc.; and former Interim Music Director and singer, Chanticleer). • Ronald Cohen (singer, Tactus)
If you wish to try the server at the end of the workshop, you will need to prepare in advance:
• Install the Jamulus client software in advance (available at no cost via Jamulus.io for Mac or Windows). • Have a wired Internet connection (using an ethernet cable, for example; no phone or other wireless connections). • Have non-wireless earbuds or headset, with built-in microphone or external microphone.
