Description: The arrangement was first published in Renners' Männerquartette von der Donau and then included in the Regensburger Liederkranz. It says:

English madrigal ("Near by a streamlet"), translated from English by Math. Dengler, 2nd verse added by Josef Renner. This choral piece, presented 1880 by Stadtsängerverein 'St. Gallen' at 'Eidgenöss. Sängerfest', with unprecedented competition, won the first prize.

The original song Vorria morire was printed 1585 in [Symphonia angelica (Waelrant, Hubert) Symphonia angelica] (and possibly in lost 1565 edition)). There are several other versions in other languages, see e.g. Hard by a fountain (Hubert Waelrant). In German Wikipedia it says:

Besondere Verbreitung fand sein niederländisches Lied „Als ick u vinde“, erstmals in Ausgaben des Livre septième des chansons (1589), und später in französischen, englischen und deutschen Versionen bis ins 20. Jahrhundert.
