Description: Sources: Quartus liber mottetorum ad 5 et 6 voces, Jacques Moderne, Lyon, 1539 and Secundus liber cum 5 vocibus, Gardane, Venice, 1539. An agreeably sombre setting of this well-known text. At the end, the composer indulges in the regularly encountered practice of setting the words 'ut sol' ('like the sun') mostly to the notes C and G.
