Large parts of this page, including notes on the editorial method and the mention of a "Byrd Edition" appear to have been copied from my user page (resulting in Tomkins apparently being acclaimed as the greatest British composer, something at which even his greatest admirers might raise an eyebrow or two). Likewise, the boxed information on the front page of Jay's sole edition, the Tomkins Responses, also comes from my editions, and again the mention of a "Byrd Edition" is meaningless in the context. It's a beautiful edition, and I would love to take credit, but sadly I can't - nothing to do with me. DaveF (talk) 11:31, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Dear Dave, I've written a reply on your user talk page. JohnRichard (talk) 12:00, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

No problem as far as I'm concerned. I hope you put the edition back up soon (and I'm glad I managed to download it before you pulled it!)--DaveF (talk) 20:14, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

Who is Jay Young?

I had a question for User:Jay Young whose talk page redirects here, but am now withdrawing in some confusion ;-) Richard Mix (talk) 00:56, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

My legal name is John, my mother calls me "Jay"... thus the confusion. Ask a way! JohnRichard (talk) 01:22, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
Got it, thanks! I think I correctly figured out on my own that by 'transposed to c-minor' you meant b-minor performed on A=440 instruments, yes? Richard Mix (talk) 03:48, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
Well, the score is presented in C-minor, a semitone higher than originally written. This solved all of the issues with the Bassoon being in F, and the differences between the A392/A415 instruments and organs. So now all the notes are present and playable on modern instruments. So Yes, I believe one could call it "b-min on A440". JohnRichard (talk) 14:26, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
Clear as mud, thanks ;-)Richard Mix (talk) 00:28, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
