English text
The wintry winds are blowing,
The wintry sky's a-snowing,
Troll, troll we the song,
Thro' the dull night long,
While the genial ale is flowing.
Let rich and poor be here,
To share our Christmas cheer;
The Squire's wide Hall
Hath room for all,
No cold distinction fear.
Now set the hobby prancing,
Around maid Marian dancing;
Let the dragon tail
Shake the clatt'ring scale,
Against St George advancing.
And while we greet the show,
With many a loud ho, ho!
Still troll we the song,
Thro' the dull night long,
With a tra lira, lo!
