English text
Three huntsmen once went into a wood,
To hunt a white hart they knew to be good.
They laid themselves down all under a tree,
And a very strange dream had these huntsmen three.
I lay, and I dreamt I was beating the bush,
And out ran the hart, boys, husch, husch, husch, husch, husch.
And I, that for certain the creature must drop,
As I levelled my gun at his head, pop, pop, pop.
And I, as he ran to the woods afar,
Blew cheerily into my horn, tra ra.
And as they were sitting relating their dream,
The hart bounded past them and over the stream,
And before the three huntsmen the game descried,
It was off to the woods with a scathless hide.
Husch, husch, pop, pop, tra ra.
