Since Luther was blissfully unaware of modern German apostrophe rules, I am not sure moving this page (and all the other "Ein feste Burg" pages) would be such a good idea. The "Evangelisches Gesangbuch" (the standard German Protestant prayer book) has "Ein feste Burg", no apostrophe. Redirects would be in order, of course. Regards T.a.k. 10:11, 18 January 2008 (PST)

I gratefully accept the musical suggestions here, and I've incorporated them in newly posted scores. Indeed, there were a few typos in the text. The orthography I've used, however, comes from Gesangbuch für die evangelische Kirche in Württemberg 1912, and is not an attempt to reproduce Hassler's and Luther's German. I have retained the Gesangbuch spelling. That was my mother's songbook so I have a sentimental connection with it, and it is, presumably, an accurate reflection of her generation's German.
