Latin text Solis ut ardentis glacies consumitur æstu, Gloria sic mundi diffluit ante Deum. Mortales igitur nimium ne credite mundo, cum mundo immundo cuncta caduca cadunt. Immundum mundum fugias, ne mundus abundis immundus fias; qui modo mundus eras. Mortales igitur nimium ne credite mundo, cum mundo immundo cuncta caduca cadunt.

English translation As ice is melted by the fierce sun in Summer, So the glories of the world dissolve before God. Therefore, mortal folk, do not trust overmuch in worldly things; In a worldly world all worldly goods will decay. Avoid the worldly world, lest you render the world unworldly by surfeit; in which manner you will be the world.
