German text Siehe, das ist Gottes Lamm,       das der Erde Sünde trug. Blutend an dem Kreuzesstamm       tat es Gottes Zorn genug. In dem Felsengrabe liegend       hat es uns zur Ruh gebracht. Über Tod und Sünde siegend       drang das Lamm durch unsre Nacht. Siehe, das ist Gottes Held,       der aus dunklem Grabe stieg. Herr des Himmels und der Welt,       bringt er uns den ewigen Sieg. Uns hat er dem Tod entnommen,       uns, die sterben und vergehn. Gottes Held wird wieder kommen,       und wir werden auferstehn.

English text Look, there is the Lamb of God,       he who took our sins away Bleeding on the cross he died,       satisfied the wrath of God. In the stony grave then lying,       peace it was to us he brought. Over death and sin victorious,       fought the Lamb throughout our night. Look, there is the Knight of God,       he who from the grave arose Lord of heaven and of the world       brings eternal hope for us. For us has he death receivèd;       those, who died, he came to save. He, God's Knight shall come again,       and we shall rise up from the grave. Translation by Stuart Moffatt
