Life

Born: 1586 in Groitzsch, near Leipzig

Died: June 1626

Biography Samuel Rüling probably got his musical education from his father Johann, who was an organist. In 1612 he was appointed Kreuzkantor in Dresden. In 1615 he applied for the position of deacon at the Frauenkirche in Dresden, where Schütz and his wife belonged to. His compositions were never printed, but were copied to many manuscript archives.
