ORFEST International festival of choral music, Ljutomer, Slovenia
ORFEST is a young international festival of choral music. The home country of the festival is Slovenia and the venue of the festival is the town of Ljutomer situated in the NE of the country. The festival has a non-competitive character.
The main aims of the festival are to present the highest quality of choral singing to the audience, to bring colorful and interesting concerts into the area to create a multicultural exchange between people from different countries and backgrounds and to promote choral music.
The festival is organized by a team of volunteers who are united in a culture association that bears the name ORFEJ. An important part of the association is a chamber choir also named ORFEJ. In the eighteen years of its existence the choir has gathered many positive musical experiences attending different international festivals in Europe, which is one of the main reasons for us to hold a festival in the home area.
The first issue of the festival was held in august 2007. Choirs from 4 countries performed during 4 days in the NE region of Slovenia. It has been a strong experience for the participants as for the visitors of the festival.
