Old French
On en dira ce quon vouldra
mais ma mie est bell'et honeste
et qui pour aultre la tiendra
ie le tiens pour une grand' beste
si donc ie me suis mis en queste
de tant sa bonne grac'avoir ie nay pas faict
peu de conquesste si luy a pleu me recepvoir, si luy a voir.

Modern French
On en dira ce qu'on voudra
mais mon amie est belle et honnête
et qui la considère autrement,
je le tiens pour un grand bête.
Si donc je me suis mis en quête
d'avoir tant sa bonne grâce,
cela sera ma grande victoire
si lui plaît de me recevoir.

English.png English translation

They’ll say of her what they devise
But my sweet lass is good and fine
And he who holds her otherwise
I take to be an utter swine.
If thus I seek to make her mine
And put myself in her good grace
I will attain a state divine
If she should deign to me embrace.
