O gloriosa Dei genitrix, virgo semper Maria,
quae dominum omnium meruisti portare
et regem angelorum sola virgo lactare,
nostri quaesumus pia memorare
et pro nobis Christum deprecare
ut tuis fulti patrociniis ad celestia regna,
mereamur pervenire.

Quae est ista quae ascendit,
sicut aurora consurgens,
pulchra ut luna electa ut sol,
terribilis ut castrorum acies ordinata.

English.png English translation

Glorious mother of God, Mary, for ever a virgin,
who was found worthy to bear the lord of all
and, alone among all people, to suckle the king of the angels,
we beg you kindly to remember us
and, on our behalf, to pray Christ
so that, through your intercession
we may be admitted to the heavenly realms.

Who is she who rises like the dawn,
fair as the moon, bright as the sun,
terrible as an army arrayed for battle?
