Latin text
Ne in furore me coerce tuo,
neque in ira tua castiga DEUS,
nam in me sunt infixae, omni ex parte,
sagittae tuae premit me manus tua,
infirmum cor meum languens suspirat,
ob multitudinem peccatimi,
totus affligor valde, penem succumbo,
cor in planctu isto rugit, atque fremit.
Virtus me reliquit
& vultus meus non habet lumen,
in animae ruinam quidvis ruit,
sed ego absurdesco in te spes mea est, ad me inclina.
Ah, ne relinque me, tu qui solus es Salvator meus,
ô Domine Jehova.
Original text and translations may be found at Psalm 38.
N.B. This setting's text bears only a passing resemblance to that psalm, the source text having been paraphrased and cast in sonnet form by Francesco Bembo (1544-1699): there is also a contemporary translation of that sonnet in English, even more tenuously linked to a verbatim translation of the source text.
