Es ist allhier ein Jammertal,
Angst, Not und Trübsal überall,
das Bleiben ist eine kleine Zeit,
voller Mühseligkeit,
und wer’s bedenkt, ist immer im Streit.
French translation
C’est ici-bas une vallée de larmes,
partout malheur, misère, alarme.
On y reste peu de temps :
ce n’est que peine. En y pensant,
