Mit Lieb bin ich umfangen,
Herzallerliebste mein,
nach dir steht mein Verlangen,
wenn es nur könnt gesein.
Könnt ich dein Gunst erwerben,
käm ich aus großer Not,
sonst lieber wollt ich sterben
und wünschen mir den Tod.

Herzlieb, gedenk der Treue,
die du verheißen hast,
und lass dich’s nicht gereuen,
stetigs1, ohn Unterlass,
dein Treu hast du versprochen
in rechter Stetigkeit,
bleibt selten ungerochen,
Feinslieb, nicht von mir scheid!

Wie soll ich von dir lassen,
es kost’ mir meinen Leib,
dazu zwingt mich ohn Maßen,
dass ich nicht von dir scheid.
Dir hab ich mich ergeben
dein eigen will ich sein2,
dieweil ich hab das Leben.
Herzlieb, vergiss nicht mein!

Jung G’selle, lass dein Werben,
erwirbest meiner nicht,
wollst du gleich darum sterben,
es ist vergebens g’wiss.
Hast du mich lieb im Herzen,
da weiß ich wenig um,
es ist fürwahr mein Scherzen,
lass ab, es ist umsonst.

1 stets
2 aus Hassler, Herzlieb, zu dir allein, weil "in rechter Stetigkeit" ein Duplikat ist und sich nicht reimt.

English.png English translation

By love I am enlaced,
My most dearly beloved,
my desire is for you,
if it only could be.
If I could gain your favour,
I would escape great hardship,
otherwise I would rather die
and desire death.

Sweetheart, think of the faith
you have promised,
and don’t regret it,
always and continually,
you have promised to be true
in very steadiness,
it seldom emains unrevenged,
my love, don’t part from me.

How cann I leave you,
it will cost me my body,
it forces me without measure,
that I don’t part from you.
I have devoted myself to you,
I want to be youur own,
while I have life,
darling, don’t forget me.

Young boy, stop wooing,
you will not win me,
even though you would die for it,
it’s surely in vain.
That you love me in your heart,
Thereof I know little,
it’s truly a pleasantry,
let it be, it’s to no avail.
