- nu flyver lille Haakon med Drømmevinger paa.

- Guds Engle smaa de vaage for Vuggebarnets Fred,

Margretens Wiegenlied
- Nun Schloß die Äuglein beide zum Schlaf klein Haakon kaum,
- da sieth er schon mit Lachen den allerschönsten Traum.
- Es baut sich eine Stiege hinauf zum Himmelszelt,
- drauf steigen Gottes Englein hernieder zu der Welt.
- Die hüten seinen Schlummer getreu die ganze Nacht,
- schlaf süß und sanft, klein Haakon, auch deine Mutter wacht.

Margarethe's Lullaby
- Now roof and rafters blend with starry vault on high,
- Now flieth little Hakon on dreamwings through the sky.
- There mounts a mighty stairway from earth to God's own land
- There Hakon with the angels goes climbing hand in hand.
- God's angel-babes are watching thy cot, the still night through,
- God bless thee, little Hakon, thy mother watcheth too.
