que je fis (?) grande offense
quant j'ai (?) voulu contre amour tenir fort.
Il m'en prent mal, aussi avois-je tort
de vouloir faire à un dieu résistance,
duquel chascun redoubte la puissance.
Tant feist d'effort que (?) print d'assault mon cueur,
et meist le feu dedans à grande oultrance,

when I tried to hold out against love.
I am suffering for it, and it was wrong of me
to think I could resist a god
whose power all fear.
