E con grato parlar a lei m’aggionsi, Seco’l camin scorrendo in gioco e’n riso, Che mi parea gioir in Paradiso. O sera aventurata, o lume santo, Cagion di farmi riveder colei Che sola può sanar i dolor miei.

German translation Vorgestern Abend beim Licht des Mondes sah ich in angenehmer und liebenswerter Gesellschaft voller Freude sich ergehen meine Dame. Und mit lieblichem Reden gesellte ich mich zu ihr, um mit ihr den Weg zu verfolgen in Freude und Lachen, was mir erschien wie das Ergötzen im Paradies. O glückseliger Abend, o heiliges licht, Ursache, sie wiederzusehen, die allein meine Schmerzen heilen kann. Translation by Gerhard Weydt

English translation In the evening of the day before yesterday, by the light of the moon, I saw, in pleasant and amiable company, my lady walking full of joy. And with gracious talk I joined her, with her treading the path with joy and laughter, which appeared to me to be feasting in paradise.
