- Editor: William Long (submitted 2006-03-24). Score information: Letter, 16 pages, 124 kB Copyright: Personal
- Edition notes: Solo AT.
#4 "Tis Nature's Voice
- Editor: Ben Newton (submitted 2023-09-05). Score information: A4, 5 pages, 102 kB Copyright: CPDL
- Edition notes: This edition follows the full score by Robert Pindar of 1765 (IMSLP). By the standards of more modern editions, there are some quirky moments (e.g. b.30) but I have attempted to be faithful. Alterations and additions to the figures are marked as editorial and any additional ornamentation is marked in grey. Of particular note is that it appears the last section of music is repeated in the source, as indicated by signs surrounding the relevant systems. I have indicated a first and second time and imitated the printed ending of the piece (moving 8ths in the bass) to link back. Ossias are given as suggestions for the repeat.

English text
#3
Hark! hark! each Tree its silence breaks;
the Box and Firr to talk begin;
Hark! this in the sprightly Violin,
That in the Flute distinctly speaks;
This in the Sprightly Violin distinctly speaks;
'Twas Sympathy their list'ning Brethren drew;
When to the Thracian Lyre with leafy wings they flew.
#4
"Tis Natures voice, thro' all the moving wood,
of creatures understood:
the universal tongue, to none
of all her num'rous race unknown.
From her it learnt the mighty art,
to court the ear, or strike the heart;
at once the passions to express and move;
we hear, and straight we grieve or hate; rejoice or love.
In unseen chains it does the fancy bind,
at once it charms the sense and captivates the mind.
#6
Thou Tun'st this World below, the Sphears above,
who in the Heav'nly round to their own Musick move.
#10
In vain the am'rous flute and soft guitar,
jointly labour to inspire
wanton heart and loose desire,
whilst thy chaste airs do gently move,
seraphic flames and heav'nly love.
