Description: The piece appears in G. Arascione's "Laudi Ariose" collection, published in Rome in 1600. In the original source the Alto voice is notated in soprano clef, the Tenor in the mezzo-soprano clef and the Bass voice in alto clef. The voices' ranges are small and fairly high, which could indicate the piece was meant to be performed by a "voci pari" choir, SSAA in this case.

Donna gloriosa
più sublime del ciel et de le stelle,
O del tuo figlio sposa
le cui sacre mammelle
lattaro il suo fattore
che ti ti creò con infinito amore.
II.
Tu col tuo germe santo
rendi quel che ne tolse Eva infelice:
per te dal tristo pianto
entrar nel gaudio lice
a noi suoi figli rei,
perché del ciel fatta fenestra sei.
III.
Tu sei porta lucente,
per cui vassi nella città superna,
voi liberata gente
da la prigion'eterna,
che per lei vita havete
a la Vergin gentil lodi rendete.
