Dolce d’Amor Sirena,
Che le note e i sospiri
Mesci de l’aure ai giri,
Gareggiando in cantar con Filomena
Tu nel silentio ancora
Musica sei, qualhora
A tempo’l bel pie movi o gl’occhi giri;
Così’l ciel gir’e tace,
E pur concento face.

Süße Sirene Amors,
die du die Töne und die Seufzer
des Atems mit deinen Bewegungen mischst,
wetteifernd im Gesang mit Filomela [Nachtigall],
du bist noch in der Stille
Musik, wenn du im Takt den schönen Fuß
bewegst oder die Augen schweifen lässt;
so dreht sich der Himmel und schweigt
und zeigt doch Einklang.

Sweet siren of Love,
that blends the notes and the sighs
of the breath with your moves,
competing with Filomela [nightingale],
even in silence you are still
music, when you move the pretty foot
to the beat or let your eyes ramble;
thus the sky turns and is silent
and nevertheless provides harmony.
